Our Electric Integrated Resource Plan, or EIRP, is a long-term strategic plan designed to ensure customers have reliable electricity at a reasonable price.
About every five years, we update the plan, taking careful consideration of the needs of our customers, the environmental impacts and rate impact of our energy resources.
When we updated the EIRP in the past year, our focus included an emphasis on environmental stewardship and raising awareness that, for customers, energy management begins in the home. Essentially, the best energy resources are those which you don’t use.
Energy supply resources
- Conventional sources: coal and natural gas
- Renewable sources: solar, wind and hydropower
- Demand-side management: programs that influence the quantity or patterns of use of energy consumed by customers
- Short-term (seasonal) power purchases
