Community > Community Focus Fund

Our Community Focus Fund is a community outreach program that provides financial support, used computer equipment, and employee volunteer hours to local educational and nonprofit organizations.

In 2007,

  • More than 884 Springs Utilities employees, and their friends and families, volunteered 7,250 hours on 125 community projects.
  • Employees volunteered another 7,000 hours to community organizations as troop leaders, coaches, committee members, or as non-profit board members.
  • The President’s Volunteer Service Award was presented to 26 Springs Utilities’ employees for donating over 100 hours in 2006 to nonprofit organizations.
  • Employees volunteered over 422 hours at our local food bank.
  • During the holidays, employees donated more than 480 gifts to senior citizens and filled another 430 stockings with toys for less fortunate children in our community.
  • Colorado Springs Utilities refurbished and donated about 180 used computers to local non-profits and educational institutions saving our land fill and helping organizations that help our citizens.

We currently sponsor and participate in various community events and activities that are viewed as meaningful to the community. In contrast to our sponsorships and other community involvement activities, the Community Focus Fund program backs volunteer activities where employees are not directly compensated.

The program supports the needs of eligible nonprofit and educational organizations, promotes volunteerism, develops and supports projects for the benefit of the community, and develops partnerships with community organizations that will support and enhance these efforts.
