Xeriscape

Section Separator

With the semi-arid climate and unique soil conditions in our region, xeriscape is a way to save water, time and money in your landscape.

The term xeriscape comes from a combination of the Greek word "xeros" meaning dry, and "scape" as in "landscape."

At Colorado Springs Utilities, we define xeriscape as an attractive, sustainable landscape that conserves water, is based on sound horticultural practices, and shows evidence of care.

Our xeriscape demonstration gardens are free and open to the public. We encourage you to visit throughout the year to see how the beautiful variety of plants and trees change with the seasons.

  • Xeriscape Demonstration Garden at the Conservation and Environmental Center, 2855 Mesa Road
  • Cottonwood Creek Park Xeriscape Demonstration Garden, 3920 Dublin Blvd.

You can learn more about the plants in our gardens by browsing through our extensive online xeriscape plant database.
