Winterize your Home and Landscape
The shorter, cooler days of September are a reminder that winter will not be far behind. The Center features displays that illustrate low-cost measures that anyone can take to help their homes be more comfortable and save on heating bills. According to a recent study by the U.S. Department of Energy, Coloradans can expect to save $2.10 on their energy bills for every $1 they spend on weatherization. Learn about the various kinds of weather stripping and caulk and how to use them. Energy conservation staff will be available to answer questions and recommend appropriate materials and techniques.
Xeriscape can look great all year long; take the opportunity to visit the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden in the fall to get ideas for plants and design features that will enhance your landscape throughout all the seasons. The XDG staff and volunteers can identify good plant selections as well as show maintenance techniques that will help your landscape look good and be healthy throughout the fall and winter
