Load cycling programs are a proven strategy used by utilities across the country to reduce demand for electric power during hot summer days. Well established programs are a significant contributor to stabilizing rates, delaying the need to construct new power plants and reducing environmental impacts.
By participating in our ECO Program, you allow us to adjust your central air conditioning thermostat upward two to four degrees during periods of high demand for electric power, usually between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Thermostats may be adjusted up to 25 times each year.
Benefits include:
- Customer control: at home, from work or on the road, a customers can control their home cooling systems from any internet connected device
- Save money: Settings can be adjusted for weekdays and weekends, with up to four programmable periods a day - plus a one-time $25 credit on your utilities
- Help the environment: ECO allows us to manage peak demand, which can prevent power interruptions and keep costs down
Through this program, we will better understand the increasing central air conditioning load and gather information that will help manage power plants more efficiently. Results will be integrated into our long-term energy planning strategy. This program is a partnership between Springs Utilities and Carrier Corporation.
