Use rebates for your fall landscape projects

Fall is a great time to tackle landscape projects. As you begin to plan how to beautify your outdoor spaces, don’t forget to make sprinkler system improvements, too. A well-functioning sprinkler system will support a healthy landscape while minimizing your water bill. To boot, our irrigation rebates can help pay for high efficiency equipment, making it simple to buy the best products.

Here are four ways you can work sprinkler system improvements into your landscape projects.

  1. Lawn renovation projects. In the Pikes Peak Region, you can install new sod until the beginning of October. Lawns need regular watering indefinitely in our climate, so before you plant grass consider installing sprinkler heads with pressure regulation ($5 rebate per head) and high-efficiency nozzles ($4 rebate per nozzle). These state-of-the-art products will water your lawn more evenly to help it thrive. They also dramatically reduce wind drift, misting and runoff, which will prevent future brown spots. Before you plant, don’t forget to prepare the soil and apply for an establishment watering permit, too.
  2. Upgrade to a smart controller. If you’re tired of managing your sprinkler system schedule, think about replacing your existing controller with a WaterSense-certified smart controller and get a $50 rebate. These controllers take the guesswork out of setting watering days and times by using local weather conditions to calculate how much water your landscape need. It will run your sprinkler system accordingly to provide just enough water, no more and no less. You can also control it from your smartphone, making it easy to make timely changes.
  3. Add a rain sensor. If your sprinkler system doesn’t have a rain sensor, consider adding one. Our recent weather shows why this is important. If you had a rain sensor this summer, you could have reduced your watering days by 25% just by adding this simple device that prevents your sprinklers from running after it rains. Available in both wired and wireless models, it’s easy to add to your existing sprinkler controller and get a $25-50 rebate.
  4. Fall planting projects. If you’re planting new trees, shrubs or flowers, consider adding drip irrigation to keep them healthy and reduce water waste. Our recorded webinar provides an overview of how to build and operate a drip system that will last for decades. While we don’t offer a rebate for drip irrigation, the amount of water a drip irrigation system will save compared to a spray irrigation system is significant. Don’t forget to winter water your new plants periodically after you shut your sprinklers off in the fall.

As you get time to work in your landscape, think about investing in your sprinkler system as well. Use our rebates to help pay for efficient sprinkler equipment. You can also review our landscape webinar recordings to get tips from local landscape experts to make your projects even more successful.
