The Olympic Training Center is a world-class facility that provides cutting-edge technology and support services to help Team USA's athletes compete for gold.
Unlike the athletes who train there, the center's HVAC system wasn't performing at the highest level. The facility management team recognized that the evaporative coolers and gas-fueled heaters could be swapped for more efficient options.
In November, they took advantage of our business custom water rebate program to help replace 18 evaporative coolers and 10 gas-fueled heaters in building seven with three packaged rooftop units (RTUs) and six destratification fans.
To accurately measure water consumption of the evaporative cooling system, the Colorado Springs Utilities Water Conservation team installed a portable ultrasonic water meter to capture actual water use from Aug. 1 to Aug. 15, 2022. The portable meter data and daily billing meter data were used as the basis for water savings estimates.
Water savings by the numbers
- $10,620 qualified rebate
- $4,426 annual bill savings
- 460,356 gallons of water saved annually
We provided $10,620 to help offset the cost of the project, which will save the center more than 460,000 gallons of water and more than $4,400 annually!
