Support for local families

“I wish it could be more. COPE saved me.”  Recent donor Francis B., Customer and former Project COPE recipient

This season of giving, consider a contribution to Project COPE.

Your support stays right here to help local families keep the lights on and stay warm this winter.

Project COPE provides utilities payment assistance to families and individuals struggling financially due to a personal crisis or emergency. Project COPE is the only local organization that dedicates its entire funding to utilities payment assistance year-round.

“Project COPE is one of the best local programs to invest in, because every dollar is directly used for assistance, and a generous matching grant makes your dollars go even further,” said April Speake, Community Relations Lead for Colorado Springs Utilities.

It is not income based, which allows Project COPE to help anyone in the community facing disconnect due to an emergency.

This year, the need for assistance is growing as a result of inflation and lower federal assistance dollars.

“We anticipate providing approximately $1.1 million in utility assistance to about 1,700 local families this year,” Speake said.

In fact, the Pikes Peak United Way, one of Project COPE’s partners, continually records utility assistance calls – the greatest number of all incoming requests through its 2-1-1 number.
