Water-wise landscape transformation part 2: An outstanding outcome

Less grass means less maintenance and more water savings.

For Eric, downsizing really is updating: He maintained enough grass for his daughter’s dog to roam and play while adding what are essentially one-touch-per-year plants that require very little water. And that water is mostly controlled by the irrigation system.

“The irrigation system has kind of been my bread and butter over the years.”

Ready to go from irritated to irrigation? We can help.

For Eric’s yard, the right system is the drip irrigation. Eric prefers it for its focused, efficient approach to watering that allows for “very little water waste in terms of runoff.” As a result, Eric keeps his yard looking happy and healthy while cutting his water use by more than half.

And with a controller, it’s twice as easy. You can manage your water settings from anywhere, making timely adjustments for rainy days, colder weather or times when you won’t be home to manually make adjustments. Plus, the savings are significant.

Just ask Eric: “Water efficiency is really important to me. When you’re efficient with water, you save water.”

It’s something we can all do. And the more of us who do it, the greater impact it will have on our community and the future. Additionally, when you have the appropriate plants and an appropriate amount of turf grass, you’re going to save more water. And in turn, money.

“It’s important to me because obviously, it’s a finite resource. You can still have a really nice-looking landscape while being smart about your approach. It’s the right thing to do for our climate, for our future and just in general being a good steward.”
