J.D. Phillips Water Resource Recovery Facility
Facility information
Located near the Pikeview Reservoir, the J.D. Phillips Water Resource Recovery Facility began operating in 2007 to help manage growth in the north and northeast parts of the city.
This facility is fully enclosed to help control odors. It can treat 20 million gallons of wastewater per day.
The facility uses a process called “activated sludge with biological nutrient removal.” That means that some of the treated water can be filtered for non-potable use.
The treatment process removes solids, which are sent to our Monument Creek Interceptor, then to our Las Vegas Water Resource Recovery Facility, located about 10 miles south of this facility. From there, all solids processed in our system are sent another 17 miles south to our Clear Spring Ranch facility for treatment and disposal.
