Phillip H. Tollefson Water Treatment Plant

Facility information

Built in 1942, the Phillip H. Tollefson Water Treatment Plant is our original water treatment plant and primarily treats water from local sources.

It was originally built with a capacity of 6 million gallons per day (MGD), but we’ve expanded the plant’s capacity four times since then. We now have the capacity to treat up to 42 million gallons of water daily.

Recent upgrades include a state-of-the-art pretreatment building, a new raw water vault, and indoor basins for better environmental control. Planning for additional improvements is underway.
