Silverheels Horehound
Silverheels horehound is an attractive mat-forming plant with rounded, fuzzy leaves. Each leaf is edged with silver.
Although it develops flower stalks in the summer, the flowers are not showy at all. Because of its beautiful leaves, it makes a nice companion to other flowering plants, especially around rocks or boulders.

Performance
We've tried planting silverheels horehound many times at the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. It tends to grow well for a few years, then die. Even though it's a short-lived plant, the leaves make a very attractive mat. It's worth trying if you don't mind replanting in a few years.
Maintenance
Cut off flower stalks when they develop if you'd like to highlight the leaves.
