Tannenbaum Mugo Pine
Tannenbaum mugo pine is a smaller evergreen tree. It has a very uniform pyramidal shape, resembling a Christmas tree. Its needles are an attractive dark green color.
A slower grower, it puts on about 6 inches of growth per year. Because it is a resilient tree, it can tolerate a wide range of growing conditions. It can be a good choice where a smaller evergreen tree is preferred, like for smaller landscapes.
Its uniform shape and dark green needles make it an attractive specimen tree, backdrop, or screen. Its pyramidal shape gives it a tidier appearance than some of the more open-shaped pines.

Performance
There are two Tannenbaum mugo pines that have performed very well at the Demonstration Garden. Initially, they were damaged by deer rubbing their antlers on them, but they recovered from this damage with time. It's a good idea to protect them from deer after planting.
Maintenance
Prune when young to create a healthy, well-shaped specimen tree. No other maintenance required.
