Frequently asked questions

Why was I charged for stormwater on my utility bill? What is it for?

Colorado Springs Utilities is responsible for charging and collecting stormwater fees from all residential and commercial utility customers on the behalf of the City of Colorado Springs. The stormwater fee is billed to all customers of Colorado Springs Utilities residing within city limits. Stormwater fees fund the maintenance, infrastructure, and planning necessary for the city’s stormwater conveyance systems and natural channels. To report a concern about a storm drain, or if you also recently received a statement from the City of Colorado Springs, customers should contact the city’s Stormwater Department directly at (719) 385-7876.
