Electric time-of-day rate

The more you shift, the more you save.

Available for both residential and business customers, our Time-of-Day rate is based on the time of day you use the most electricity. Similar to peak pricing used for air travel, cell phone, hotel stays, etc. you pay lower rates during periods of low demand (off-peak) and higher rates during periods of maximum demand (on-peak).

For more information about this rate option, see our Electric Tariffs. Call us at (719) 448-4800 to sign-up.

Beginning in late 2025, a new Energy-wise Time-of-Day rate option will be available. Click here for information about the new proposed rate.

Residential

A typical residential customer uses about 25% of their electricity during on-peak hours. If you use more than 750 kilowatt hours (kWh) a month and think you can shift to have 88% or more of your electric use to off-peak times, then you are a prime candidate for our Time-of-Day option.

Residential on-peak hours are Monday through Friday and vary by season, shown below.

  • Non-summer (Oct.-May) on-peak, 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Summer (June-Sept.) on-peak, 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Off-peak hours are all other times as well as the following holidays:
    • New Year’s Day
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving Day
    • Christmas Day
  • For specific rates, refer to the Residential Rate Sheet.

Business

If you're a business customer whose average daily use in the last 12 billing periods is less than 1,000 kWh, you may be able to save money on your electric bill with our Time-of-Day option.

Business on-peak hours are Monday through Friday and vary by season, shown below.

  • Non-summer (Oct.-March) on-peak, 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.
