Irrigation efficiency rebate

This program helps pay for projects that improve the efficiency of existing sprinkler systems. Eligible work includes identifying and fixing leaks, updating the irrigation schedule, repairing or replacing sprinkler heads, nozzles and controllers. The work must be performed by a certified irrigation contractor. 

Eligibility Requirements

• Installation address must have Colorado Springs Utilities commercial water service.
• The site must have an automated, in-ground irrigation system in good operation.
• This rebate is for retrofit applications only and does not apply to new construction.

Rebate Process

1. Read all eligibility requirements, terms and conditions, and rules and instructions.
2. Complete the Screening Request and submit to waterrebates@csu.org. 
3. We will contact you to schedule an irrigation system evaluation.
4. If approved, we will send you an Approval to Proceed Letter with an estimated rebate amount based on projected water savings and project/rebate instructions. 

Turf to native grass conversion

Installing a more sustainable turfgrass will help cultivate more attractive, healthy, resilient and efficient landscapes.

This rebate provides qualifying customers with a credit on their water bill for converting existing turfgrass areas to an approved native grass. The rebate amount is based on the selected approved grass and area of landscape converted.

Eligibility Requirements

• Installation address must have Colorado Springs Utilities commercial water service.
• Review fact sheet for qualified grass species and qualified mixes.
• Follow eligibility criteria on the turf to native grass conversion application.

3. If not completing through My Account, download and complete the application form. Print and sign the application.
4. Submit your application and required documentation as instructed.

Flow sensor

Flow sensors can save a great deal of wasted water and increase your water management capabilities. A flow sensor measures the irrigation water rate of flow for any given zone or zones. This rebate covers half of the purchase price on the device (and all other peripheral components needed), up to $400 per flow sensor.

Eligibility Requirements

• Installation address must have Colorado Springs Utilities commercial water service.

It is strongly recommended that a WaterSense certified smart irrigation controller be installed in coordination to a flow sensor but is not required. We highly recommend having these installed and programmed by a qualified professional following a thorough irrigation and landscape evaluation.

Smart irrigation controllers

WaterSense qualified smart irrigation controllers can reduce irrigation water use by an average of 16 percent. This rebate covers half of the purchase price, up to $400 per WaterSense certified smart controller.

• Installation address must have Colorado Springs Utilities commercial water service.

It is strongly recommended that a WaterSense certified smart irrigation controller be installed and programmed by a qualified professional following a thorough irrigation and landscape evaluation.

High-efficiency matched precipitation nozzles

High-efficiency matched precipitation nozzles are 20% to 30% more efficient than conventional spray heads and can save 5% to 10% of landscape water use. The rebate is up to $4 to per unit.

• Equipment must be on the approved list of qualified nozzles.

Pressure-regulating sprinkler heads with check valves

Eliminate water waste from low head drainage with check valves. They also provide a simple solution for high pressure problems. Pressure regulation minimizes water waste from misting and fogging. These heads can reduce landscape water use by 10 percent. Rebate amount is $8 per unit.
