The leaves and narrow branches allow alpine currant can be used nice background plant or as a hedge plant that requires little shearing. Most plants found in the nursery trade are male plants, which will not produce seeds. Open clusters of bell-shaped greenish yellow flowers appear in spring only on female plants.
