Alpine Currant
Alpine currant is a compact, multi-stemmed shrub with a rounded shape. One of its best qualities is its small, rich green leaves.
The leaves and narrow branches allow alpine currant can be used nice background plant or as a hedge plant that requires little shearing. Most plants found in the nursery trade are male plants, which will not produce seeds.
Open clusters of bell-shaped greenish yellow flowers appear in spring only on female plants. This shrub is a good, low-maintenance performer in the Pikes Peak region.
