Peony

Peony is a large mounding perennial flower. Its dark green, glossy, lobed leaves are one of its outstanding ornamental features. In addition, the stunning, large flowers take many forms, most commonly saucer, cup or bowl shaped, and are single, semi-double, double or anemone-form. Flower colors are usually white, pink, red or yellow.

Surprisingly drought tolerant, many peonies are very long-lived plants in the Pikes Peak Region. There are many cultivars available at plant nurseries. Its leaves turn yellow to orange in fall.
