The Cottonwood-Fuller project replaced the conductor (wire) with a higher-performance conductor to increase energy flow between Cottonwood Substation in Colorado Springs and Fuller Substation near Falcon. The new conductor runs on the existing supporting towers. This uprating will improve the electrical system performance and overall reliability.
The Cottonwood-Fuller transmission line project supports the Sustainable Energy Plan's goal of providing a safe and reliable energy system. Mitigation efforts like upgrading conductors, fortify our electric grid so we can meet the growing needs of our community. This project was substantially completed in March 2023.
